The panel on the side of a box of Rogaine®

Research conducted so far on HairGenesis™
shows that it is
not limited to working on just one small area of
the scalp like Rogaine®
(and Minoxidil) is. |

It specifically states that
Minoxidil is NOT
intended for frontal baldness or
a receding hairline. |

Thus, according to the makers of Rogaine®

you at all.

What is the Long Term Effectiveness Using Minoxidil
(as used in Hair Advantage™) for Hairloss or Hair Growth?
|
Clinical
studies by the makers of Rogaine® (the first hair loss treatment to
use the drug Minoxidil) have shown that only about 1 out
of 4 men and about 1 out of 5 women
will experience re-growth of their hair, and then it is only very moderate
regrowth. And those that do see such limited growth, must continue to use
the Minoxidil product on-going, or their hair will fall back out again
within three to four months after stopping usage of it.
According to the FDA
Drug Facts Guidance for Industry (click on this link, then
scroll down to page 2 -
Other Information), the reported percentages of success in hair re-growth
in using Minoxidil, based on clinical studies is:
- 26% of the men reported moderate
to dense re-growth and 33% had minimal re-growth; this was after four months of
use.
- 19% of the women reported only
moderate re-growth and 40% had minimal re-growth; this was after eight months of
use.

Research Study on HairGenesis™
Soft Gels
published in the
Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine
|

|
Results:
"The results of
this pilot study (using HairGenesis™ Soft Gels) showed
a highly positive response to treatment. The blinded
investigative staff assessment report showed that
60%
of
(6/10) study subjects dosed with the active study
formulation were rated as improved at the final
visit."
(Compare that with only 26%
for men
and just 19%
for women using Rogaine /
Minoxidil) |

Minoxidil (like used in Hair Advantage™) must be used twice a day, every day
|
According
to clinical studies by Rogaine®, Minoxidil must be used twice a day,
every day, continuously. It works better on those who are younger and
whose hair loss is recent, according to clinical studies by Pharmacia and
Upjohn.
Clinical studies on Minoxidil
also show that if you ever stop using it, your hair will soon fall
out again (often within 3 to 4 months or even sooner) and you
will look as if you had never used it. (for example, click on the "fall out"
link above and scroll down to "How long do I have to use Women's
Rogaine®?")
A potential Rogaine® user contacted rogaine.com web site by email. This
is the actual reply to the customer's question about the necessity of
continuing to use Minoxidil (for the rest of one's life):
"Continued use of all Rogaine®
(Minoxidil)
formulas is needed to maintain hair regrowth. If
you stop using Rogain (Minoxidil), the
normal hair loss process will start again. You will
probably lose your newly regrown hair within 3 to 4 months
and will look the way you would have looked if you had
never used Rogaine®. Just remember your results and
success depends on proper application of Rogain twice a
day, every day, directly to the scalp."

|
What you should know about Minoxidil (as used in HairAdvantage™)
|
-
works only on the top (vertex) of the scalp (as shown above)
-
generally works for a limited period of
time
-
uses the drug Minoxidil (a drug originally intended for high blood
pressure, not hairloss)
-
Minoxidil is not known to stop or block the degenerative effects
of the hormones DHT
or the enzyme 5AR
on the hair follicles or hair roots
-
while Minoxidil may temporarily
stimulate hair growth by some other mechanism, it may not prevent the hair follicles
from their eventual deterioration by DHT
anyway
-
has multiple potential
side effects

|
Things to note about Rogaine® or Minoxidil (as used
in Hair Advantage™)
|
-
do not use if your amount of hair loss is different (or more)
than
that shown in the pictures on the side of the carton (see above)
-
do not use if your hair loss is on the FRONT of the scalp
-
do not use if your hair loss is on the BACK of the scalp
-
stop using if you see no results after 4 months
-
is generally ineffective unless applied twice a day regularly
-
generally only regrows hair in a minority of men (about 26%) and
women (about 19%).
-
continued use (twice a day) is necessary to keep any hair
regrowth you may have seen or hair loss will begin again (and you will
lose all of the
hair you may have grown back within 2 to 4 months)
-
maximum hair regrowth has not been shown to continue longer than 48
weeks
-
even after 48 weeks of usage, continued use (twice a day) is
still necessary to keep any hair that has grown back or hair
loss will begin again

Or would you prefer to use a non-drug, natural (botanical)
treatment instead,
especially if it costs less and can be more effective?

More Information
About Hair Advantage™
|
In the HairAdvantage™ products, only the oral
tablets contain a version of saw palmetto, but not their
Minoxidil topical lotion or shampoo. In comparison, all the the
HairGenesis™ products contain DHT blocking ingredients.
The
HairGenesis™ Oral Soft Gels not only use a strong form of Saw Palmetto, but also Beta
Sitosterol and other clinically-shown DHT blockers, making them
potentially far more effective than the HairAdvantage™ oral tablets.
Additionally, the HairGenesis™ Topical Activator, Revitalizing Shampoo
and Revitalizing Conditioner all contain
a carefully formulated composition of botanically derived DHT blockers.
DHT
is the hormone proven to trigger pattern hair
loss in both men and women and therefore the primary cause of
thinning hair.

Although HairAdvantage™
may be a good product
for some, it does have several disadvantages. It
is marketed as a multi-part system, consisting primarily of a
shampoo,
a Minoxidil topical lotion and an oral tablet. The HairAdvantage™
topical lotion is either Minoxidil 2% (for women)
or Minoxidil 5% (for men). The Hair Advantage™
oral tablet contains just a few herbal ingredients, one of which is Saw
Palmetto.
Other than that, although it makes quite a few claims about
its purported effectiveness, Hair Advantage™ is similar to
Avacor™ , Follicare® and Rogaine®
(in that they all use Minoxidil) or the
revolutionary version of HairGenesis™ that was introduced
way back in 1996.
Since then, however, HairGenesis™ no longer uses
Minoxidil, as research has shown that botanical substances
may offer a more effective and safer way to treat male or
female pattern hair loss.
Researchers continued to look for other alternatives to the drugs
Rogaine™ and Propecia™. One of these is Dr. Geno Marcovici of
HairGenesis™. Based on research and various clinical studies, he concluded
that using a combination of various botanical substances,
including Saw Palmetto and Beta Sitosterol, might prove
to be as effective or even more effective in treating thinning
hair and hairloss
than the Minoxidil and Finasteride drug options. Moreover, it might be safer to use without
the potential side effects that both Minoxidil and
Finasteride can
produce.
Through continuing
research and development and various clinical trials and
studies, HairGenesis™ products have been continually
improved, and have gone through four significant
evolutionary changes to make it a safe and effective, 100%
botanically-derived active composition hairloss treatment. |

The FDA states that the
